Unit Conversion Example Problem - Pounds to Kilograms
Pounds (lb) and kilograms (kg) are two important units of mass and weight. The units are used for body weight, produce weight, and many other measurements. This worked example problem demonstrates how to convert pounds to kilograms and kilograms to pounds. Pounds to Kilograms Problem A man weighs 176 lbs. What is his weight in kilograms? Start with the conversion factor between pounds and kilograms. 1 kg 2.2 lbs Write this in the form of an equation to solve for kilograms: weight in kg weight in lb x (1 kg / 2.2 lb) The pounds cancel out, leaving kilograms. In essence this means all you have to do to get a kilogram weight in pounds is divide by 2.2:x kg 176 lbs x 1 kg/2.2 lbsx kg 80 kg The 176 lb. man weighs 80 kg. Kilograms to Pounds Conversion Its easy to work the conversion the other way, too. If given a value in kilograms, all you need to do is multiply it by 2.2 to get the answer in pounds. For example, if a melon weighs 0.25 kilograms, its weight in pounds is 0.25 x 2.2 0.55 lbs. Check Your Work To get a ballpark conversion between pounds and kilograms, remember there are about 2 pounds in a 1 kilogram, or the number is twice as much. The other way to look at it is to remember there are about half as many kilograms in a pound.

Well. . . I just summoned a demon. Don t get me wrong, I didn t mean to, it just sorta happened. It was Halloween and, being the super mature teenager that I was, I went trick-or-treating. Going house to house and getting practically thrown at with candy just seemed entirely worth it. Considering I was 5,3, I wasn t surprised that I could pull off being a 12-year-old for one night without calling attention to myself. Being outside for nearly three hours to satisfy my sweet-tooth, it s natural that I wouldn t keep track of every single house and treat that came my way, but to my surprise, I received something that wasn t so sugary. I spring to my feet and shiver as I step across the cold floor toward my room. On my tip-toes, I pull the screen down to shut it and take a minute to stare out the window. The moon cast a dim light over the small town, illuminating only the fronts of houses and the tip of trees, abandoning all else to darkness. A light fog danced in the distance and I smiled thinking how perfect it looked on Halloween s night. I looked down from the top floor one last time then tugged the curtains shut. Ethical Risks for Business and Social Science- myassignmenthelp
Qustion: Discuss about theEthical Risks for Business and Social Science. Answer: Literature Review Ethics of an organization can be defined as the rules of the organization, which decides the discipline of the organization, culture of an organization. Ethics regulates the organizational behavior and organizational psychology (Jondle et al. 2013). Any individual in the organization has to maintain the business ethics or the decision making of that person towards the organization and the action of that person in the organization is influenced by the organizational ethics. The main objective of outlining an organizational ethics is to unite several people from different background within an organization. The organizational ethics deal with the duties and rights of the employees. It looks after the employee values, morality and aspirations of each employee. Organizational performance defines the performances done by the different departments of the organization such as performance of finance department, marketing department (Jondle et al. 2013). The organizational performance largely influenced by the ethics as to perform a smooth task the factors like organizational behavior, organizational culture and ethical leadership has to stay aligned. To Assess Ethical Risks Organizational behavior defines the way employees interact with each other and with clients. Organizational behavior is a merge of human behavior with the organization. Organizational behavior is highly influenced by the human psychology. An individual act separately when he or she is outside of the organization but that same person behaves in another way when that person is inside the organization (Wilson 2013). Organization behavior can be determined in three levels, micro level, meso level and macro level. The organizational behavior is highly influenced by the human psychology. When the stake holders defy organizational policies the problem occurs or the employees refuse to obey the rules of the organization the problem occours. The organizational culture defines as the hared beliefs, morality and values of an organization. These decide the behavior of the employees work in that particular organization. The organizational culture is intangible and influences a group of people who work together in the organization (Alvesson 2012). The organizational culture limit the people`s behavior it decides how the employees would dress inside the organization, how the employees would act in the organization and how the performance should be inside the organization. The organizational varies from organization to organization. It is obvious that every organization has its unique culture. The main objective behind every distinct organizational culture is, to unite the employees who come from different strata of society. Ethical Leadership defines a leadership which highly depends on the morality, values dignity, ethical beliefs and rights. The ethical leadership maintains the balance of trust, honesty and fairness just to stay transparent to its internal and external people. The leadership maintains the ethical values which are socially acceptable without curbing anyones fundamental rights. To carry out the leadership ethically a leader should be particular in his or her action towards any issue (Bello 2012). There are some other qualities that an ethical leader should own such as, unselfishness, sober and respectful towards its subordinates. A leader should be a good communicator unless he or she will be unable to teach ethics to the subordinates. Apart from the ethical teaching communication is needed to maintain constant good relation with the employees to prevent misunderstandings (Walumbwa et al. 2012). A healthy communication between a leader and employees helps to mitigate anxiousness and fea r as transparency can be properly maintained. Ethical Risks in Organization Ethical risks in an organization define the lack of insight and judgment of situation. Any unethical actions in an organization pose a threat to the goodwill of the organization. The challenges can be face by an organization due the ethical risks is mainly legal and reputational. The transparency is hampered drastically due to some unethical steps which lead to breach of trust. The adversarial manner of stake holders has a negative impression on the organization. The unexpected behavior of employees can create turmoil inside the organization (Wong. and Laschinger 2013). Divulging of companys secret facts is an example of breaching of trust. The organizational culture can be hampered if the employees do not follow the dress code, time table and job structure. The primary reason of ethical risks can happen due the lack of free flow of communication between the leader and the employees. Due the proper communication the employees were left unaware of the unethical actions. Mitigation of Risks To mitigate the ethical risks it is important to follow a systematic way to identify the problem first. A common mistake often happens is that, organization tries to cover up the problem in order to safeguard the goodwill but it has an adverse reaction which appears worse than the previous. It is important to investigate the issue in detail instead of suppressing it (Jondle et al. 2013). This solution in long will appear term sustainable to the organization at large. An organization should make the ethical training compulsory among its employees. Increase of communication may help to identify the illegitimate actions within the organization. To mitigate ethical risks in organizational performance the employees should be given the freedom to choose so that they will get the space to identify the unethical actions. An organization should rationally analyze an issue to identify the root of the unethical actions. After the rational analysis alternate way and opportunity will come out to reestablish organizations good will. Ample amount of time should be given to the employees in terms of reducing unethical issues, hence patience is essential (Voegtlin, Patzer and Scherer 2012). In terms of constructing an organizational behavioral rule one needs to have proper insight so that it does not curb the rights of the employees that help to reduce ethical risks. A regular interval of communication is needed with the employees just to ensure that the employees can feel the fact that they are important people of the organization. The organization should look after the proper wages and promotion that are allotted to every scale of employees to reduce the conflict inside the organization. A regular interval of psycho analysis of the employees should be conducted as human behavior is the representation of human psychology. References Bello, S.M., 2012. Character analysis of Eddie Essay Example
Character analysis of Eddie Paper A View from the Bridge is a contemporary drama written by Arthur Miller in 1955, who was born in New York City and studied at the University of Michigan. The play takes place in Brooklyn around 1950ââ¬â¢s.à Eddie is an inarticulate character and is powerless in the face of his tragic fate. He harbors a secret lust for his niece Catherine which causes eventually his destruction. Throughout the play, he is seen as the tragic hero or tragic protagonist, meaning he is the central character on whom the tragedy befalls. Eddie is uneducated and hardworking determined to do his duty of his family and maintain the respect of the neighbour, ââ¬Å"He is fortyââ¬âa husky, slightly overweight longshoreman â⬠¦ where the open sea begins.â⬠He has genuinely been a loving guardian to Catherine and when necessary he has gone looking for work in Hoboken, Staten Island and so on.à Eddieââ¬â¢s jealousy over his attractive young niece Catherine seems to be more powerful than his love for Beatrice and his sense of honor as a Sicilian American. Miller uses characterisation, symbolism and plot to show how Eddieââ¬â¢s dark side gradually causes his death. In the beginning of the play, Eddieââ¬â¢s relationship with Catherine is like a father and a daughter which will eventually change to a man and womanââ¬â¢s relationship. These stages are usually small incidents but each of them develops a new point to the relationship. His eyes ââ¬Å"envelopingâ⬠her tells Catherine that she looks pretty and looks ââ¬Å"like one of them girls that went to college.â⬠This suggests that his interest in her is more than paternal. He adds that the skirt is a bit too short ââ¬Å"but you gotta sit down sometimesâ⬠. Catherine disagrees with him and finds the skirt perfectly fine. Eddie is the alpha male in the house and tries to be in control of Catherine ââ¬Å"Catherine, I donââ¬â¢t want to be a pest, but Iââ¬â¢m telling you, youââ¬â¢re walking wavyâ⬠. Catherine is trying to be like any other girl however Eddie is not willing to let her do this ââ¬Å"you ainââ¬â¢t all the girlsâ⬠and stops her from growing up into sexually attractive, independent adult. By repeating accusations of ââ¬Å"walking wavyâ⬠and drawing menââ¬â¢s attention, Eddie describes his own feelings: she gives him ââ¬Å"the williesâ⬠and ââ¬Å"aggravatesâ⬠him. He is being protective certainly, but it is something that disturbs him emotionally. He calls her ââ¬Å"Madonna typeâ⬠: trying to impose traditional values of chastity and modesty in a modern culture where short skirts and high heels are the style now and flaunting femininity and sexuality is not frowned upon. Eddieââ¬â¢s determination is fixated on an impossible and unrealistic goal: to keep Catherine in the role that he has envisioned for her as a ââ¬Å"Madonna never counting on the fact that sheâ⬠would ever grow up. Eddie reminds Catherine of the promise he has made to her mother on her deathbed. Eddie says, ââ¬Å"Katie I promised your mother on her deathbed. Iââ¬â¢m responsible for you. Youââ¬â¢re a babyâ⬠.à Eddie still thinks of Catherine as a baby ââ¬Å"Youââ¬â¢re a babyâ⬠and this idea prevents Eddie from allowing Catherine to grow up. When Catherine tells Eddie that she was waving at Louis (Eddieââ¬â¢s friend), he gets overprotective and warns Catherine by telling her ââ¬Å"Listen, I could tell you things about Louis which you wouldnââ¬â¢t wave at him no moreâ⬠. He protects Catherine from marriage or any male relationship and wants her for himself. Before the arrival of Rodolpho and Marco, his absurdly overprotective attitude to Catherine and his non-existent sex life with Beatrice briefly surface as subjects for arguments. Later Eddieââ¬â¢s problem are summed up by Beatriceââ¬â¢s questions, ââ¬Å"when am I gonna be a wife again?â⬠, and (to Catherine) ââ¬Å"was there ever any fella he liked for you?â⬠.à When Catherine lights Eddieââ¬â¢s cigar in the living room, it gives him unusual pleasure. This possibly warm and affectionate act between niece and uncle has phallic suggestions. The arrival of Beatriceââ¬â¢s cousins, acts like catalyst, and fuel the rising action of this drama. When Beatriceââ¬â¢s cousins arrive Eddie attempts to be the man of the house and warns Beatrice and Catherine not to tell anyone about the two illegal immigrants, ââ¬Å"It never comes out of your mouth who they are or what theyââ¬â¢re doing here.â⬠In addition he authorises an incident to Catherine about ââ¬Å"Vinnyâ⬠who snitched about his uncle who was an illegal immigrant to the immigration. He has been ousted by the communities ostracised for the rest of his life and regarded with scorn and contempt. A similar fate is inevitable for Eddie, who is prepared to give up his status in the community to make Rodolpho go back to Italy, as he sees that as the only option available to him. Once Eddie is aware that one of Beatriceââ¬â¢s cousins, Rodolpho, sings, cooks, makes dresses, he gets angry as for Eddie it is just bazaar behaviour for a man. Eddie is shocked of his feminine quality as it is completely against the concept of masculinity.à Thatââ¬â¢s first where he begins to niggle away at him and then he goes a little bit further where he thinks he is not a man at all, maybe he is homosexual and that he shouldnââ¬â¢t be with Catherine. He tries to show Catherine that Rodolpho is not the right guy for her as he notices that both of them are attracted to one another. Eddie kissing Rodolpho and then Catherine leads to a catastrophe. Eddie deludes himself into thinking that Rodolpho ââ¬Å"Ainââ¬â¢t rightâ⬠to justify his efforts to discredit him in front of Catherine and does not care about the effect this has on his marriage.

Unionization in South Korea and Feminization of Labor in Indonesia Essay
Unionization in South Korea and Feminization of Labor in Indonesia During the Process of Capitalist Development - Essay Example This essay stresses that caraway argues the export oriented industrialization in Indonesia resulted in the feminization of labor in the country with female employees being used in labor intensive industries. Capitalist development in Indonesia resulted in the production of industries whose aim was to reduce costs of production while maintaining higher profit margins. Caraway perceives feminization of labor in Indonesia as being the result of popular perception that female employees were ââ¬Å"patient, disciplined, and diligentâ⬠. This paper makes a conclusion that the class struggles due to buildup of tension between workers and the owners of factors of production are evident in the situation happening in South Korea. The continued frustration of workers through measure that limit their participation in negotiation for improved working conditions has historically been a ground for tension between the workers and corporations which are supported by the government. Just as Marx envisioned, the exploitation of workers provides a ground for revolution to remove the ruling class that supports exploitation of workers by the corporation. The KCTU in South Korea has been able to challenge the dominance of state favored FKTU over the years. Coming from a period when independent labor union had been banned, KCTU has achieved a lot in the countryââ¬â¢s labor relations as it has gain the legal status to represents it members.

Michaels, Ph.D.,Robert C. Balling, Jr. Ph. D.1 They have expressed doubts over climate change and challenged the consensus of mainstream scientists (Granados). This paper briefly explains the biggest theory of denial or doubters of the environmental global warming Lord Crimson (n. d) has cited the opinions of 19,000 scientists in order to argue against the established theories of global warming. These scientists have established that the current theories about the responsibility of the human in global warming are in question. They have signed a petition saying global warming is probably natural and not a crisis (Lord Crimson). United States is depending heavily (around 85%) on fossil fuels for its energy needs. Fossil fuels are exhausting day by day and it is difficult for United Sates to meet all its energy needs in future in the absence of fossil fuels. So, they want to reduce the usage of fossil fuels as much as possible by other countries and for that purpose they have attributed the global warming problem to the emissions from the fossil fuels. ââ¬Å"Dr Sami Solanki, the director of the renowned Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research in Gottingen, Germany, ha conducted a research in order to find out the reasons behind global warming. He has concluded that the Sun has been at its strongest over the past 60 years and may now be affecting global temperaturesâ⬠(The Global Warming Scam). In other worlds, instead of searching for the reasons of global warming on earth, we must look in to the sky to find out reasons. The solar radiations were intensified a lot for the last 1000years as per the studies conducted by Dr. Solanki. These rise in solar temperature causing the atmospheric temperature rise and melting of ice from the Polar Regions. Increased amount of flood, the sea level rise and the melting of huge ice blocks
